This is in connection with the news " Amitabh in race for Rashtrapati Bhavan " at http://samachar.com/latest/7day/mon.html published on 12Th Feb.. 2007.
I really fainted at the first encounter with the news and then thought, it's a time of great introspection which should necessarily be done by every Indian citizen as well. Because now a days people are running behind the fame, they are not at all bothered about the person's background, eligibility necessary for a particular post (specially in politics). As for as this news is concerned, I don't think Big B is a right candidate for this post in any angle. Undoubtedly he is a great actor and I am also one of from the crowed of his fans. But I want the first person of my nation must ..
1. have devotedly worked for the nation in his past and must have the detailed knowledge of the Constitution so that to know the importance of the position, to realize the responsibilities and limitations, to have a faith in the system of which he is a part.
2. have such a past and character that will inspire the youth to work for the nation and should arouse the patriotism in them.
3. have great leadership qualities to motivate the nation.
But Amithabh Bachhan is a great actor who has been busy in his filmy world through out his life. Here it is worth noting that he worked for himself and not for the nation directly. By looking at him patriotism never dawns in me and so I think he is not a right candidate.
Even Big B has always said no to the politics even if he could have entered it very easily. Really it is appreciable and reflects his greatness. But these are few selfish politicians who are entertaining such damn ideas, and we blind citizens go behind them without giving any thought to there decisions which portrays the blind democracy. This must stop somewhere and hence I think it is time for introspection for we all Indians.. isn't it?
